The Statue of Unity

This statue is in India and stands at 597.1 feet (182 meters) tall. It depicts Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a leader who played a key role in India's independence.

Spring Temple Buddha

The world's tallest statue of Buddha can be found at the Zhaocun township of Lushan County in China. It is 420 feet (128 meters) tall and depicts the Cosmic Buddha standing on a lotus throne.

Laykyun Sekkya

The Laykyun Sekkya Buddha statues show Gautama Buddha in two alternate states, depicting the Buddhist scene of "Parinirvana" — the death of someone who has achieved nirvana during their lifetime. This statue is in Myanmar and is 380.6 feet (116 meters) tall.

Vishwas Swaroopam

Found in India, this statue is 347.8 feet (106 meters) tall. This copper-coated concrete structure depicts the Hindu god Shiva in meditation.

Ushiku Daibutsu

Located in Japan, this statue is 330 feet (100 meters) tall. It features Buddha and includes an elevator for visitors.

Guishan Guanyin

This statue is in China and stands at 324.8 feet (99 meters) tall. It depicts the Bodhisattva Guanyin with multiple hands and eyes.

Mother of All Asia

Found in the Philippines, this statue is 322 feet (98.15 meters) tall. It represents the Virgin Mary and houses chapels, theatres, shops, food halls and residential spaces, as well as a shrine to Pope John Paul II.

Great Buddha of Thailand

Located in Thailand, this statue of Buddha is 300 feet (92 meters) tall. While it may look like it is a fairly ostentatious statue, it is made of concrete and painted gold.

Sendai Dai Kannon

In this depiction, Dai Kannon holds something known as the Cintamani Stone — a wish-fulfilling jewel found in both Buddhism and Hinduism. This statue is in Japan and stands at 330 feet (100 meters) tall.

Dai Kannon of Kita no Miyako Park

Found in Japan, this statue is 88 meters (288.7 feet) tall. It represents the goddess Kannon and was built in 1989.
